Currently on 20 mg of Adderall (past year) 150 mg Lamictal (really want out of this one) and Prozac (20 mg start 1 mo ago)
MHO - I have cyclical depression and absolutely no bipolar symptoms.... other than deep dark depression cyclically (about 4Xs/yr) I am extremely disppointed in Lamictal - I felt rage...leading Dr to prescribe klonopin in addition. I am not an angry person, so I directly related this to Lamictal and want out.
The prozac...not working yet. I can be a very happy and positive person. Now, i seem to feel low. Not desperately low, but low, nonetheless. Also, the adderall is not really working for focus. I think I have just gotten too used to it. Very helpful for a while, then DR upped it to another 10mg in afternoon. Still not as great as it was the first 6/8 months. DR recommends looking into COncerta Focalin or Ritalin. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am at a normal BMI, do NOT have an eating disorder, but the adderall helped me with my bing-y impulsive eating, shopping, etc etc behavior. I would like to see the appetite supression/compulsive eating to be traeed with whatever drug we switch to. Suggestions from DOC were: Focalin XR , concerta and if absolutelu needed Riatlin (doc didnt want me to go this route. I also would like cost implications. I have insurance but would like generic alternatives. THANK YOU!!!! Sorry so lengthy.

I think Concerta is easier on the body than Ritalin. Ritalin made me into a monster.
Depakote is a mood stabiliser and anti-depressant that also helps with anger. Have you considered trying it?

Adderall increased my depression, which is apparently a known side effect for some people. Now I take Concerta, which is my good and trusted friend.
I've taken Ritalin, which was good, but the ups and downs were not all that helpful. Now, with the Concerta, I'm getting the benefits of Ritalin, without the downsides. Thus, it's my friend!
Good luck!

Thank you both for your input. Depakote, I think is out because of the weight gain. I am sorry but the binge eating led me into a real downward spiral about my body image. Now that I have gotten appetite and impulse control - prob thanks to both the Lamictal and AD.
I am at the middle of my BMI scale, so it is not like I have real issues, but I cannot put on the lbs again. I have gotten so used to the Adderrall that the appetite suppressing has really disappeared. I don't want to sound junkie-ish, but that aspect alone presses my desire to fing the right med. for me. Any response would be great.

Well Depakote isn't used for ADHD. Desipramine can help ADHD. It won't make you lose weight though.Strattera is also used for ADHD. Strattera made so nauseous that I couldn't eat.
I can understand that you want to lose weight, or at least not gain anything. How about you try Concerta and then see a nutrionist to help you with your diet?
I am sure that you are suffering by not being on the right meds.
Let us know what you end up taking.
