Amino Acids... like the ones from protein powders or other products?
Such as Aspartic Acid? sounds like aspartame who knows.
Does anyone have any insight or information on this subject?
I just need to find out what on earth has been making me feel worse since close to new years.
I was given my life back with an ability to make friends, be social, meet new people, a sex drive, desires, wants, goals, NOW i feel almost all of it is gone and I have to push myself so hard through my strong depression/anxiety/social anxiety and I am just sick of it.

Personally I would rather risk the very near zero chance of any effects from diet drinks -- aspartame, splenda, etcetera -- than get diabetes II from 160 calories a pop.

There are of course amino acids that can calm, like tryptophan, present in milk and turkey and some vegetable products.
Mainly a balanced diet is always a good thing -- if you eat a mixed set of food however your tastes and a multivitamin, you're pretty much set.

L argnine,l orthnine,l carthnine,l glutamine all posses either fat burning properties or muscle growth.
There is a big debate on whether doing so is A.worth it and has effect,B.Even safe.
For mental purposes many people will use tyrosine,l phenylinine, dlpa, and so on.
First the main thing to know is if you supplement aminos, use a site to get some info on it,i recomend GOOGLE GROUPS SMART DRUGS & NUTRIENTS,the archives there can answer many questions.
Second always remeber amino therapy should be cycled, since you are rasing certain building blocks you are lowering others,so you want to do usualy a 4 day on,4 day off cycle, use in between any protien as it will attatch to the protien chain and no longer be a single supplemented amino but rather just part of mere protein.
Keep an amino complex handy,so if u feel ill you can stock up on balancing out your system
I personaly agree with the previous poster, while some are useful to occasionly use,i.e taurine is very similiar to many mood stablizers, for the most part the body is getting what it needs through a good diet of amino acids so increasing them usualy ends up with a onset rush to be followed by a drop in mood and overall disappointment.
Id recomend finding a site or book which im sure are plenty, and reading on amino acid therapy and learning what each one does and how to supplement them safetly, good luck

Protein powders are of no concern, psych-wise. They're food, basically. Whether from whey, soy, or some other high-protein source, you'd get the same amino acid ratios from them as you might by consuming the food from which they're derived. Protein powders allow you to increase the density of protein intake, and if the product is hydrolyzed, simplify uptake.

Yes, there is aspartic acid in aspartame. But finding aspartic acid in protein powder is no big deal, as it is one of the most common aminos in protein.

In contrast, taking pure amino acid supps can have psych effects. Generally, one does this on purpose. E.g. pure tryptophan to enhance serotonin; tyrosine as dopamine precursor; arginine as NO precursor. Such like. You're not likely to take a pure amino randomly, and thereby cause unanticipated effects.
