Hi babblefriends,
Switched to desipramine after stimulant tolerance made me dysfunctional (and depressed). Loads of energy at 25mg for several hours - but the thrill is gone by noon. Attempts to raise dosage produce dysphoric hypomania - not exactly the result I was seeking! Attempts to moderate mood swing with lithium, depakote, lamictal unavailing (sleepwalking all day - when I'm not literally sleeping). Life is a mess and thinking of adding stimulants - but been done this enticing but ultimately dead end road before. Any thoughts?

Forgot to ask my question (illustrative of how I am functioning!
Pdoc suggested adding abilify to desipramine to stabilize mood and provide a base for desipramine increase. Any thoughts (based on theory or experience) regarding this suggestion.

Sounds like a good idea. Abilify is a great mood stabilizer and does not cause that much fatigue like other neuroleptics.
