IS this SAD, bipolar, or something else?

Posted by Jimmyboy on November 11, 2007, at 18:56:33

Just wanting to get some other people's insights on this. I have noticed a pattern that I can track back many years, at the beginning of the year, usually about Feb. or so, I start feeling better, more active, productive, basically like I am "cured" and I have always attributed this to whatever med I happened to be starting close to that time, but unfailably I start to slip and feel worse and wrose usually around June and the depression and anxiety creeps back in and finally peaks at its worst around December or so and the cycle repeats. Does this sound like SAD, a bipolar pattern or just refractory depression?
I do tend to get excited and go out more/more social and want to drink, etc. When I am feeling better early in the year. This could be mild hypomania or just pure relief that I have made it past another miserable period and "maybe" its over now and for good..( never is) .

Thanks for any opinions ...

JB

If it's cycling sounds a bit bipolar to me but I'm not a doc. Phillipa
