Question about thyroid

Posted by CoutureMan on November 8, 2007, at 3:15:51

I just received a call from my GPdoc regarding the results of my THS blood test. She wants me to give more blood so she can run more tests and then will prescribe medication. My test result is 5.5 with [0.50-4.70] being normal. She thinks medication may help with energy and the severe constipation. I also hope it helps with anxiety and depression. My question is what other tests will she be running (forgot to ask) and should I specifically ask for Armour instead of Synthroid or does that depend on the results of the new tests? Thanks for any advice.

CM

Complete thyroid panel, autoantigens, and I've heard unithroid is more consistant with thyroid althought I am on synthroid. New ideal levels with endos ar 1-2 and emphasis on when you feel best reguardless of numbers. Good luck I'm about to change endos as the one I have now can't regulated mine. Phillipa

I take armour. I think its better, because I can take it with food, it has no side-effects, and slightly anti-depressing, and its all natural, cheep too. And it works at a low dose for me.

Zyprexa, What was your TSH level before taking armour and what is it now. Also, how much armour are you taking. If my gp doc wants to prescribe synthroid should I insist on armour?

Thanks,
CM

I don't know about TSH levels, or what it is, I'll have to learn that one. I take 60mg, and they say my thyroid is ok now. I have read on internet that armour is better than syntroid because it affects both T3 and T4. Synthroid only affects T4, along with all the other synthetic ones. I can't say for sure how much any of this is true, and would suggest you looking into it.
