Prozac makes me so numb

Posted by your#1fan on November 1, 2007, at 22:12:09

I mean i feel so blunted by it. You know it makes me have a good point of life, i mean a good, better mood, but i just feel sometimes just when im thinking im getting depressed, i dont feel depressed i just feel numb and get in a bad mood.

I was about to say its like an antipsychotic you feel emotion!

You just feel "Prozac" its wierd....

Prozac has helped in ADHD i would say about 25%. But it does make me manic if i do not take zyprexa with it. Im all over the place, in a good mood, either, prozac can increase anger.....

You just hate the way you feel sometimes. Well for me.....

Its a good antidepessant, strongest i've seen out of the SSRI's and espcially with being manic depressive i know this medicaiton is not recommened for Bipolar disorder, it works. Lexepro, Zoloft, wellbutrin, they all didnt work much for me. Wellbutrin kept me in a good stable state with out any mood stabilzer, but the insomnia.........

Prozac is really vital to me in life, because if i dont take it, litterly my brain chemisty will change into awfulness. I dont want to say im going to be on it for the next 10 years but i hope, i just hope for the best.

By the way this isnt relating to anything, please respond to what i put but has anyone seen that Psychotic Film "Prozac Nation" that really shows being what feeling bad is about!!

You are bipolar and having manic episodes on a daily basis? Your meds aren't right. You need to get a proper mood stabiliser so you aren't popping Xanax all the time. If you bipolar disorder was under control, you probably wouldn't need the Xanax. And I don't know why you are prozac when it is known to cause mania.

Confused.

Maxime i suffer from an anxiety disorder, do you understand that i have been on almost every antianixty medication exept barbiturates. Im trying to get to point in life where im fine, i was at one point, then again it just, the mood stabilzer i am on (Zyprexa) didnt work, now if increased the dose, since it is antipsychotic i would defently not have any emotion.

Please try to be sensitive, i have been on many anxiety medications because i do suffer from a anxiety disorder. And i dont want that people here accuse me of taking it, its because its a medical condition.

I know what i need to do, but im at a point where im fine with my medications right now. maybe i asked it wrong..... prozac helps me in the day but at night i feel numb. That doesnt mean that i need to go off of it. It has vitally saved me.

Prozac has always relieved depression for me. Now if i could go on Marplan............oh yes. but my doctor is not going to go that far.

Thanks for your response

Maybe I'm just dim, but in another post today, didn't you ask for advice about stabilizing your moods more effectively? That is, didn't you ask for advice about what to do now that you've decided you won't try lithium?

By the way, what does your doctor say to all this? Is your doctor concerned about your affective lability?

What im trying to say is, i dont think i want to go to lithium. Its old, and you cant drink certain beverages with it. I thank you for all of your advice.

Sorry if i didnt make it clear, i have some problems doing that. I was thinking Lithium because my mind can just go crazy, maybe depakote or something would be better.

I appriecate your advice, both you and maxime.

Sometimes i dont make things clear when im typing, alright well im going in again to get a new mood stabilizer. I dont know what it is, i thought maybe lithium would work. But thats up to my pdoc.

I guarantee i bet you i may be put on Seroquel ROFL!! i know its funny but the thing i do....

Its a joke... but something strong. Benzodiapines are not very good for mood swings, just stress. Clonazepam i would say is the one used the best for mood swings.

Thanks again....
