Naughty Provigil........!!!

Posted by Mishal on November 1, 2007, at 6:12:02

Yesterday was the most uncanny day of my life since I began to take Provigil. It shaked me, jittered me, turned me panic and edgy not to say it agitated me to a level of unpleasant mania.

Anyone under these circumstances should have said a big bye to Provigil and trashed all what is left with them. But I was not the one to do so, because, within these couple of months, I had formed an intimate relationship with my Provigil.

So, I waited and today Provigil has become the good boy again. I am calm, alert, more focused and motivated.

Why does Provigil experiment with us? I don't get it. I have heard there would be good days and bad days while one is on Provigil.

But still I love you Provigil..

Didn't you experiment with provigil by taking it in the evening? Your reaction was the result of doing that so it really wasn't an unexpected response of the drug, you just learned to not take it at times other than recommended.

Sounds like it really works well for you otherwise, so you can count your blessings from those of us who have not found anything to help with our conditions. There's not many that can say they love their meds! I have hated most of mine.

Stargazer,

You are right. I took it as late as 9:PM but interestingly I slept through night. It was a disturbed night's sleep anyway.

Then when I added another 100mg early in the morning all the hell broke loose. I think my body was trying to adjust to the newcomer who came very late in the evening, then another Kabam! My poor brain should have confused a lot overworking and reacted weirdly.

I know one person in revolutionhealth.com who spreads his dose all throughout. Morning, noon, evening and at night. Still the guy enjoys the great benefit of this great drug.

I found this stuff after experimenting for many years. All these time, I was doing trial and error. I don't think I am perfect now. But Provigil is really wonderful.

And yes. Of all medications that I have to take, I could only make an intimate relationship with Provigil. I could never love Prozac or Ativan, though I am on Prozac and occassional Ativan now.

My next pursue will be after a good mood stabilizer. Lamictal scares me. Neurontin is too subtle. I will be experimenting with Lyrica shortly.

Does lyrica really cause weight gain even on small doses as after surgery would maybe like to try it. Sounds like stargazer solved your providgil problem and yes you're extremely lucky to have a found a med that works so well for you. Phillipa

You might want to take a microscopic look at other things in your daily routines to see if you can identify any triggers that set off the seeminigly temporary bipolar reaction that otherwise seems to work fine most times. I get the hunch it could be something else, not the provigil itself. It is thrown off by something else.

Take a food diary. Write down every single thing you eat and drink and what times you did so, all the way until your next (hopefully won't happen) episode. There could be something setting it off. Maybe a sugar thing, a caffeine thing, a protein thing, or some food you are intolerant or allergic to but you are not aware of it. Many people are gluten intolerant and don't know it. My GP says the most common intolerance he sees in patients is to the red food coloring in many processed foods. Yellow is common. How about MSG? Avoid it like the plague. Same with aspartame. Anyway, you might very well discover trends in your daily moods with a food diary.

What about the time of the month? Could be hormonal. If it repeats with any kind of regular pattern, you may be on to something.

To shut down one of those episodes quickly, you can get a lot of aid from any of these: magnesium taurate, magnesium glycinate, or any magnesium in an emergency, taurine, glycine, valerian, passionflower. You could take a bath for about 20 to 30 minutes with 2 to 4 cups of epsom salts in it (magnesium sulfate) which will absorb through your skin. It can calm things down in a couple hours.

In any case, I think you might be good to yourself to not be so quick to point the finger at provigil, but instead hunt for the trigger that sets those episodes off.
