I am interested to find out what people have experienced initially when starting out on Parnate. I am weening from effexor now to start parnate.

I had a few problems when i started parnate, blood pressure rose badly, i had serious cases of dizzyness to the point i had to sit on the floor and wait it out and sleep was a thing of the past.

Hi,
Most people will need some kind of medication for insomnia when taking Parnate. I took 50mg of Seroquel combined with 2mg of clonazepam during my trial on Parnate.

I wanted to switch from Nardil to Parnate because of the weight gain on Nardil. I lost weight on Parnate.

I had pretty serious afternoon somnolence while on Parnate. Many times I would end up taking two hour naps.

Parnate seemed to be working fairly well for my depression but unfortunately I had a rare spontaneous hypertensive episode. So, I had to go back to Nardil. Be careful with your food and medications while on Parnate. Hypertensive episodes are more common on Parnate than other MAOIs.

Take care,
Jedi

When i started parnate it was a whole new world,i was feeling better in 48 hours and a feeling of confidence was there for an entir year.

A inactive formulation change occured, did this affect th drug?

I dont know, all i know is currently im rotating it with link uk brand and its working again, just have extreme insomnia.

Links uk version for me is like revisiting the origanal parnate feeling.

I am back on Parnate after being on it a short while (had to go off it for surgery)..it's great for focus and concentration..and I feel I have to have a nap in the afternoon..no hypotension so far..I also take 25 mg of seroquel, 7.5 zopiclone and .5 clonazapam at nite for sleep..I was only taking 20 mg before surgery and am hoping to be able to ramp up to 30 mg. soon. I'm hoping it will help with getting back some motivation as I'm still pretty much a sloth at times..

I really want to give it a fair trial cause all SSRI's poop out on me after a year or I can't tolerate the side effects of some..I gained 80 pounds from the carb cravings of some of them..

I've lost 20 pounds since starting parnate (didn't gain any while off it for surgery)..it's like it turns of your appetite switch..

I hope it works well for you..keep us posted on how you're doing..we can compare notes!!
