Lamictal-induced manic hypersexuality

Posted by lynniel on September 27, 2007, at 16:26:16

Has anyone out there experienced a MAJOR manic episode with extreme hypersexuality while on Lamictal? I was told by my psy (MD) that its not in the drug literature and only happens in 1-2% of the population. (I am now a case study for the drug mfg)
Just be forewarned... it switched me from depression to major mania in a matter of 6 months.

Now, I'm on Zyprexa and my moods are even, even though I've gained 12 lbs (I was too skinny, so its fine). I look back on what happened to me, and its unreal. I was a completely different person who became obssessed with sex. Very destructive.

Does anyone know how this could chemically happen? How did a med produce hypersexuality, what goes on in your brain to make that possible? Dr Bob... any answers here for me?

Gee sorry don't have an answer but this is something that I'm sure someone else must have experienced? Hope they answer. Good luck. Phillipa

I've seen some complaints about this and some also complained about increased acne, which would indicate increased testosterone.

Take a look at this site:
