What does it mean when you go from insomnia with meds to cutting most out and sleeping a full l2 hours till noon. Not good. My mind says go do something my body just crumples in tiredness. Tried drinking a lot of green iced tea to get some caffeine and it doesn't work. Still just want to sleep. Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,

You must be exhausted. Has this been going on for a couple of weeks or so now?

Do you feel like it is related to your meds, ie poop-out or a recent change?

I recall you recently had your blood worked up and numbers seemed to have improved?

I hate to even suggest this..... are there tests that can be done for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? You may have already done some googling on that topic and have ruled it out.

I had a few miserable years with it's "cousin", fibromyalgia. Dr. said it wasn't a diagnosis, per se, but a "syndrome", or a "collection of symptoms". Do you feel pain anywhere?

Wish you would feel better...

Janet

Janet thanks yes I have considered it. I think personally a lot of it is this constant fluctuating of my thyroid. Should have continued to take the synthroid wrong as I was fine for 9 years that way. No I have to see a real endo and that's when it got really bad. And my pdoc says my tiredness is from anxiety. And I'm sleeping a lot of hours at night instead of needing high doses of benzos been taking less much less. Gave up lunesta 3 mg and .5 of xanax and now 5mg of valium. How did you get better from fibromyalgia? I don't have the trigger points but the chronic lymes can create chronic fatigue syndrome. Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,

Sorry for the tardy reply.... I have been pondering how to answer this question without writing a book!

As succinct as I can be:

Encouraged (pushed) by a friend, I attended a FMS support group advertised in the newspaper. It was at a pain clinic about an hour from my home. After 3 or 4 of these monthly group discussions, the doc running the show made a connection to my long past issue with chronic recalcitrant urticaria.

A number of years ago, no MD, allergist, or dermatologist could solve this debilitating hives problem for me, but it was ultimately "tamed" using homeopathy! The naturopath uncovered food allergies. Once the urticaria got to be chronic there were lots of triggers so it was not easy to determine a root cause. I had to give up lots of things, I won't bore you with the list... Bottom line: Hives were gone, and I was thrilled.

After a year or so I started sneaking those foods back into my diet, and presto change-o, STILL NO HIVES. "Oh goody, I can eat whatever I want."

When the FMS showed up about 3 years later, I did not make the connection. Nor did my MD suggest any type of allergy as a cause. We did a sleep study, a pulmonary exam, a rheumatologist looked at me, etc., etc., no help at all. "Here, take these pain meds every day for the rest of your life....."

Fast forward to the pain clinic support group about 3 years later. The doc did a 3 week supervised detox using Thorne medical food (rice protein) and got all the cooties out of me. Away went the pain and the fog.

The only food I have to avoid is dairy.

I am one of the lucky ones that found the source. I would recommend the detox to anyone. You can check out Thorne MediClear on the web.

Happy to answer any questions.

Janet
