Married to Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde

Posted by Squiggles on September 4, 2007, at 7:13:34

Although i have finally given up
on my ranting about the necessity to medicate major depression, the past few yrs of Dr. Jekyl's Scientology-like experimentations, have left me absolutely exhausted.

From a considerate, intelligent, and predictable person, there have been shifts to a callous, brain-damaged (in his words), cognitively disturbed and manic middle-aged party-boy.

Dealing with the shifting personality of a person who goes on and off medications is a real pain. I sympathize with the problem that some meds bring... but why not get a psychiatrist who specializes in matching the right med with the right diagnosis; as for distancing while this exeprimentation goes, there is not much use as the intent is to get off all evil medications forever.

I just don't get it.

Just started on 0 and getting worse, imho.
However, other variables may be there; my
hunch, first a personal crisis, then an attempt
to reduce meds (around the same time so as to
lose weight and look attractive) and then downhill.
That's what i think may have happened.

It's not too bad, but the therapist is trying to
break up the marriage (heresay).

All three and or combinations are possible,
as well as personal history; one of the greatest
tragedies in psychiatry is the difficulty in getting the right diagnosis. From what i have
been reading here for years, it looks like i'm
a phenom.

Something just occurred to me that i never
considered before; if true, the therapist may
actually have seen something i have not or heard something i have not, and have very good reason to try and dissolve the marriage... interesting;
