I started taking 6 grams of l-tryptophan a month ago and it hasn't helped. All it does is upset my stomach
Sigh.

Maxime,
well that sucks. You know one supplement that does help me is L-tyrosine, i took 6mg of it one time and had a panic attack ROFL! Hehehe...not for me.
Maxime, im trying to help. I feel really, im sorry, things in life are not helping. Years, i have been here. Is the adderall helping?
Can you, well im anayazing your situation. I dont know really you in person, you would like me in person. I make u LAUGH.
I know, well dealing with this demon depression that has been on you. Can you ask your doctor if you can increase your adderall to 60mg or 90mg, becasue i have heard of 90mg being used before. So that 45mg and 45mg over 8 hours then you could take Clonazepam. Or Xanax?
This is a bad pattern but im sorry what anyone says here, your situation is diffrent.
U need to see life in a nice way. So any drug that would do that for you, i think i higher dose of an amphetamine would help.
Now i would never said that to a person who i had not known for years.
But you have been on almost all antidepressants?
A psychostimulant, desoxyn i would prescribe in your situation. And i know Desoxyn is the most powerful amphetamine. But maybe it will get you out of this awful perception that depression put you in.
Maxime ask your doctor to please increase your adderall. It may help. And then maybe ask for Clonazepam? Alprazolam?
Well im sorry this is happening to you over the years. prayer for a GOOD DOCTOR that will prescribe you something that God thinks will work! ROFL!
Luve u maxime
so does phillipa
right?

I also tried a bunch of supplements recommended by "professionals" who have written books on the subject and who assure you that you will get immediate relief naturally without the need of antidepressants.
So did anything work for me? No, absolutely NOTHING. I tried Sam-e, L-tyrosine, L-tryptophan, 5HTP, GABA, and I can't remember the rest, but it was a whole list--so lots of spending.
I took the supplements based on a book I bought about nutritional psychology by Julia Ross. According to this woman, she'll get patients have IMMEDIATE relief in her office the very first time she sees them just by ingesting a supplement she guesstimates based on the patient's depressive symptoms.
I don't know how reputable this woman is, but at least in my opinion, it seems like nothing of what she says works and it's exaggerated.
Has anyone here read her book?

Sorry to here that.
You could try adding vit B6 to help the conversion.
Or maybe you could try 5-HTP instead. Would be especially good if your having trouble converting the tryptophan to serotonin. You can take it with food too to avoid upset stomache (but not a high protein meal). 2-300mg/day is recommended. On the other hand, isn't tryptophan best used to enhance serotonergic drugs? Whilst on Nardil my pdoc offered it to me as an augmentation (as Optimax) but I turned it down believing part of my problem was 'too much serotonin' ('cause of lethargy)!

Thanks Matt.
I don't think I can get L-Tyrosine in Canada ... I don't remember.
I have tried increasing the Adderall myself and all it did was made me grind my teeth. If it had helped, my pdoc would have increased the dosage.
I already take clonazopam ... too much of it ... 4 mg.
Yes, I've tried everything.
Thanks for caring.

I have some B6 to take with it ... I'll try that.
Yes, usually L-tryptophan is used to help meds like prozac, but sometimes it works as monotherapy.
Thanks.

In Canada Tryptophan is only available with a prescription ... so I don't consider it a supplement ... but I guess it is.
I've never read the book you mentioned ... but I am tired of spending money on books with promises of curing my mood.

Could the clonazepam be adding to your depression?
I only take 1.5 - 2mg/day & that alone tends to make me need 2 antidepressants/mood enhancing drugs just to cut through the mental 'numbness'. Examples (after starting clonazepam) have been Nardil + Lamictal/+ Provigil/+ Wellbutrin. And now Buspar + Lofepramine (I'm still on clonazepam 1.5mg/day).Would it not be worth considering (with your doc) a trial with another benzo? Or even, perhapse, substituting some of the clonazepam with something like gabapentin?
As far as I'm aware clonazepam commonly adds to or even causes depressed moods with many people. So can some other benzos too.

I have been on 4 mg for 10 years now and I started coming off it a while ago and got down to 3.5 mg and that's where I am at now. I should keep going down, but I haven't. When it was prescribed I was dealing with being raped and I couldn't sleep or live without intense anxiety.
New goal ... continue to come off clonazepam.
