Benzos not working

Posted by twinch on August 13, 2007, at 19:15:50

I have tried xanax, ativan, klonopin and valium. Everytime I take a benzo nothing really happens. Sometimes I feel a mild euphoric feeling, but it only lasts about 30 seconds. Could I have a high tolerance to benzos? I just do not understand why they do not work for me. Help Please!

Thanks : )

I'd need more information to answer your question properly, such as why you were taking them, and the doses of each, how long you took them for etc.

I was taking them for anxiety. I tried 4 different kinds. 1mg of xanax, 1mg of ativan, 1 mg of klonopin and 10 mg of valium. I tried each one for a week. no results

They're all at the bottom end, dosage wise, so I'm surprised your doctor hasn't tried a higher dose before moving you on to another one. It would seem you have a higher than average tolerance to benzos. I too needed higher than average doses, in fact my first script was for 4mg Ativan, so that might have had something to do with it. Benzos can induce coma, so there will be a dose between that and 10mg Valium and that has an anxiolytic effect, you just need to find it, if your doctor will prescribe it of course.
