Sweating from effexor has been too much too handle along with other side effects. Need to try something else. With the sweating subside with Wellbutrin? Have only been on Effexor for a month and weaning off of it. I work outside in Scottsdale and can't be sweating like this. Major Depressive Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder. Also taking Lamictal. Thanks!

I think it's the meds with serotonin that make you sweat. Wellbutrin isn't SSRI so it shouldn't. You do know it's activating? Love Phillipa

Hi there, and welcome. Wellbutrin did not help me with the sweating while I took Effexor - nothing did. I had a similar problem, though less severe, while on Cymbalta.
I recently started on Remeron after Cymbalta pooped out on me. The relief from sweating after 4 years, is quite pronounced. I expect to be doing a LOT less laundry.I also have anxiety, and take Xanax for that.
Good luck!ClearSkies

I don't know if you'd like wellbutrin with anxiety. I took WB as an addition to Paxil many moons ago, and all it did was make me bounce off the walls. I'm not saying to avoid wellbutrin, but there may be other options. If you don't mind some weight gain, Paxil is really excellent for depression and anxiety. A benzo might help a lot too, like ativan, klonopin, or xanax. Benzos are also good for use with the Lamictal, since it can cause some anxiety.
Only on effexor for a month? Lucky you. That stuff was terrible for me. I sweated all the time. It was unreal. The sweating isn't what made me stop taking it, but that was quite annoying. Sweating that much in Arizona has to be super dangerous.

Take an alpha antagonist and the sweat will be reduced sharply.Medications asuch as Tamouslin, tersozin,Cardura.Take smallest dose b4 sleep to avoid first dose hupotension. Also these medications relirve urinaru difficulty produced by noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors such as effexor,cymbalta..etc.

I second the terazosin post. I sweat so much on zoloft and inositol but they help too much so I tried terazosin. It has taken a while to work but is fantastic.
