hi everyone...have been a longtime fan of this site but have been too depressed to use it. (hope you know what i mean) ...anyway, started emsam patch yesterday and woke up this morning with acute pain in my right shoulder. lots of bloating. any ideas? the pain seems to be radiating from my lower spine to the middle of my right shoulder blades.

what sort of pain is it? Throbbing, stabing, dull??? How severe is it?
What makes it worse or better?
Any other symptoms?It could just be gas/GI referred pain. I had some constipation at first with EMSAM.
Have you ever had this sort of pain before?

hi kayebaby, thanks for responding. it just occurred when i woke up this am and subsided about 30 minutes after. i once had laparoscopy surgery and had this type of pain because of the gas they used to blow up my stomach which, i guess, differs to the shoulder. i read on the insert of emsam that dyspepsia could be a side effect. ...i wonder if anyone else has bloating with emsam...

Hi,
I have had to pop a few mylanta chewables recently to calm down some mild digestive pain and gas. Until I became an EMSAM user, it had been years since I took any kind of antacid.

It really sounds like referred pain from good ole gas. Try some gasx or the like if it happens again.
Is your heart rate, BP running normal?

yep, i think that emsam potentiates gas and bloating for me. 3rd day now and i haven't had the same shoulder pain; however, i sure am not feeling energized in the least. so tired. my doc thought this would give me some pep...
