I take Cymbalta 60mg and Klonopin 1mg. They have less effect on my sex life than all the other junk I've tried, but still, men always wonder why I don't orgasm or flail and scream, etc. Maybe they are just inexperienced, watch too much porn, and think women are supposed to orgasm quickly, easily and loudly? I don't even know myself what's normal....I'll ask about it in a separate post.
Anyway, I might be having sex soon with a great guy who knows about my meds. We have never had sex yet. My orgasm is really important to him, and I'm afraid I won't have one.
What should I do?

Cyproheptidine reverses the anorgasmia from SRIs for some people. It's always worked for me. It's temporary, just take a pill about an hour before sex. I'd try it once on your own, to see if it works for you, but it's safe, temporary, and no more bother than Viagra is for men.
Good luck.

have some. Some doctors are so backward and just blink when I ask for it. They make me feel like some kind of hussy for demanding sexual satisfaction. Our society hasn't cared enough about female sexual satisfaction to even come up with medications to help our sexual dysfunctions. *rant over*

Take my word on it the drug makers are working on it, as Viagra has made a huge bundle for the phama companies, so they will press on with something for females too.
BTW, very very small doses of the hormone Testosterone, can often help women achieve a normal sex drive and orgasm, but it has to be carefully monitered as it can cause facial hair to occur and other not so nice male traits, in women.

Buspirone has worked for me, taken as prn. It's also quickly eliminated from the body, could definitely be worth a try. 10-20mg one hour prior.

Grrr! Maybe a woman needs to phrase it as "My goal is being able to seem genuinely pleased for my man, rather than faking it or bored! I wouldn't want him to doubt his appeal!" Then maybe they could relate. ;-)

Racer,
Where would I find more information about Cyproheptidine? I googled it, and mostly got hits from Dr Bob. I was hoping for a medical listing.

Well they have found that dopamine agonists such as Requip(ropinirole) are reversing the sexual side effects of ssri/snri's. I was taking ropinirole for about 3 months before my pdoc suggested going back on ssri's. I'm male and thought, oh great here we go again, after that first pill I won't reach orgasm, well since I started the zoloft I will admit that my sex drive hasn't been as high BUT I have no problem getting there AT ALL. There is quite a bit of info on the net about it, so google dopamine agonists/ssri's and see what comes up. Also if your dr agrees to give it to you. Follow the instructions, you have to start very low and work you way up. If you go too high to quickly you'll be driving the porcelain bus. I only need 1mg but started at .25mg. I'm still amazed that it works so well. Correct me if I'm wrong but viagra is only for erectile dysfunction not for orgasm.

I just tried Requip upon cactus' suggestion, and I think it made it easier to orgasm. I'll keep trying it and update you guys, lol. Thanks cactus!

That's great, I'm glad I was of some help. Just don't up your dose before your date arrives, greet them with a kiss and then go running to the loo to puke your guts out. It's just not a romantic start to the evening!!!!!!!!!! LOL. I have never been so horrified. All the best!!

AFter beinning Lexapro I had problems (delayed/impossible) orgasm. I was at my wits end so, in my characteristic obsessive fashion I spent five hours reading every reference I could see and then ordered the following online:
viagra
Wellbutrin
cyproheptadine
Ginko Biloba
yohimbine
amantadineA week later I took my package of six libido tablets and tried sex. I had the longest orgasm of my life thought I was having a spiritual experience. The only drawback was, "which of the six was responsible?"
The next week I tried again and the anorgasmia had returned. Very frustrating.
This is the end of the thread.
