Anyone with experience with Topamax withdrawl???
Dr has me from 150 to 100mg for 4 days, 50 for 2 days, then 0. This is a tough drug. I've tried to stop several times already. Why so fast??? Other than to prove to me it won't work???? I don't like my body a gineua pig. Thanks.

I agree. It can be a very, very difficult drug, especially when you stop quickly. The withdrawal from that was very, very severe for me. Be careful, and go as slowly as you possibly can. There's no bonus for doing it quickly, as far as I can see.

I wouldn't go that fast if I were you. I don't know why he would say that. One time my doctor told me to "just quit the lexapro since it's not working." What??? I was taking 10 mgs for about 4 months. I've learned that you have to withdraw slowly. What's the rush?

Is there another mood stabalizer he wants to start you on? Are you having bad side effects? As I agree with the other posters. Love Phillipa

I think it really is up to each individual. I've been on Topamax and come down from 100mg and been off of it in a week. I have also quit Lexapro at 10mg with no side effects at all. For me Effexor was a freaking nightmare to get off of but other people don't have a problem with that. If you know that you get withdrawals from meds then I would do it more slowly if you feel you need to.

Thanks for all the feedback and support. I'm doing quite well for the 2nd day with no Topamax. Some irritability, but manageable. Wanted to get off Topamax because of the vision deterioration. We are switching me over to Lamictal. That titration seems to be going very well. Still on a small dose of Lithium. Yummy.
Thanks again. Namaste. Tami
