Is restoril a good med for hard to treat insomnia?

Posted by BabyBunny on June 2, 2007, at 12:00:39

hello all

i mentioned something about this in my previous post but i wanted to start a new thread with a new subject as i now know that trazodone is not doing working on my insomnia.

has anyone had any luck with restoril (temazepam) for treatment resistant insomnia? im not having any luck with trazodone or lunesta.

also i am hesitant about mentioning remeron to my psychiatrist as it is supposed to cause weight gain. i already gained enough from the seroquel and zyprexa i took (which of course worked).

any info would be of help as im so tired! i am also curious if ambien cr works better than lunesta?

thanks again everyone

Yes, i have been on Restoril (temazepam) for a long time.

Actually 2 years now.

I was on trazadone, klonopin, i had bad insomnia for periods of time. My doctor finally put me on temazepam.

Its a good med, its not like Halcion which i heard is horrible when you have reactions wake up almost irritible as heck.

Teamzpeam provides sort of a numbess, with a slight euphoria IF you are having bad anxiety or having an episode of panic attacks.

I have been on it for since i was 18 when anxiety disorder started. Actually 17 when i had my first panic attack.

But i have been on it for long time it is a good med.

Do you think you need it?

Usally its prescibed for moderate insomnia, tell your that the seroquel doesnt, well is causing weight is there anything else? for anxiety?

It will take a rotary basis of appointments for this to happen. but if you think you need it, tell your doctor.

Take care

Matt

I've never taken retoril for insomnia but it is a benzo and stronger than lunesta not sure how to compare it to seroquel or zypreza but no wt gain. Good luck. Luck us know how it goes. Love Phillipa

i guess i should mention the meds im already taking. they are:

geodon - 20 mg/1x day
trazodone - 100 mg/1x day at bedtime
depakote - 125 mg/3x day
xanax xr - 1 mg/3x day

is restoril similar to xanax? because i need my xanax for anxiety, panic and ocd. can i take both of these at the same time? are they the same kind of meds?

i know nothing about restoril so any info would be appreciated.
