A Celexa vs. Lexapro Realization

Posted by Dianne Hammond on May 12, 2007, at 11:46:36

After being off Lexapro and on Celexa (generic) for 13 days, I have finally realized what Citalopram (generic Celexa) is doing (and not doing). For the last week, I have been edgy. I have felt that something in my mind has not been finished (that sounds weird). Last night after a long, busy, exhausting day (the 2nd one in a week) the realization finally came to me. I feel UNSETTLED. Celexa is not working for the entire day. It is almost like the commercials for underarm deodorant. When I need more, Celexa is just not "there" for me.

This morning I abandoned the cheap parent drug, Celexa; and went back to the drug that has been my mainstay for the past 4 years -- Lexapro.

Now all I need to do is have my doc convince the insurance company that because I tried the cheaper stuff, that they should allow me a lesser co-pay because it is a hardship to pay so much every day to be balanced.

Thank you, everyone for asking your questions and making me think and respond. Thank you for your input and help me through this difficult couple of weeks. This does not mean that I am going anywhere. I find this group quite refreshing with all of its candor. No one else seems to understand the difficulties of this balancing act between happy and "I want to rip your appendix out through your nose" (just a representation. not a true thought.)

You will be hearing from me again as we all walk this fine line.

Dianne

ask your doctor for samples
lexapro is still quite generous with the sample to MDs
