Triazepam was prescribed to my mother around 1979/1980 for insomnia. Though it doesn't seem to come up in current Rx lists.. it definitely used to be on it. I don't know if it's been removed or just repackaged/ remarketed under that slightly different name. As I recall they were quite powerful. She only took it once or twice because they made her entirely too sleepy the following day at work.

the name Triazepam is emblazoned in my memory.. as a teen I snuck it out of her medicine cabinet unnoticed (she'd stopped taking them and didn't notice) and hoarded them for month as my "escape plan"... often taking the bottle from it's hiding place and reading the label over and over.
there was no internet as we know it (if at all) in the late 70's early 80's and that might be why there doesn't seem to much of a trace of it in online evidence.
googling triazepam is how I found this forum today

I have doubled-checked on this, and it seems as if triazepam is likely some sort of misnomer for triazolam. I could only find one article on pubmed with 'triazepam' in it. I don't know how this mistake was made, as triazolo-benzodiazepines are a distinct group, and the naming convention -pam is for 1,4-benzodiazepines.

If I weren't completely broke, I'd bet you that you're thinking of triazolam. If it brought about mighty amnesic effects, I've bet the on the right horse.

The correct pronunciation and spelling is Temazepam. It does exist,I'm looking at the bottle right now so I can give you the information. Now many may confuse it because the generic is Restoril. Just to confirm the med, I take it and it's for insomnia. I take 30mg actual Temazepam because the generic Restoril does nothing for me.

I'm just wondering about the hostility, regarding the medicine call Temaazepam. I didn't mean to offend the young lady, it's just that, I was holding the bottle in my hand and wanted to answer her question, especially since I take it. Once again if I offended,my sincere apology.

I just noticed that klonopin (spell?) and zanax are now just congentin (side affect medication for psychotropics). Triazepam and diazepam (valium) are just fond memories now for those who have panic attacks. It's a paradigm of the ages, that the rehabilitation fanatics who could use the medication are gung-ho destroying the legitimate practice of medicine.
