Please tell your Ensam stories. Did it help depression? Anxiety? or both? Thanks, Michael

I don't think Emsam makes anxiety worse- perhaps it's different for different people. If you are like me, susceptable to low blood pressure, it might even make you sluggish. I did have insomnia when I first started it, but mostly I think of it as having to do with being so excited about it starting to work. I sleep absolutely fine now on Emsam, no sleep meds. Good luck!

Well, I took it last summer and is seemed to make my anxiety a lot better. I was taking Klonopin at the same time. It did help with the depression but the help was sporadic. I only took it for a couple weeks, but I'm set to try it again in Jan. and Feb '07 at 9mg or 12mg.
In terms of the depression, there were days when it lifted and I felt connected to the world or able to genuinely laugh about things... It was very nice.
Good luck!

Why did you stop the med? Sounds like a positive experience both for anxiety and depression. Love Phillipa

It may help with elevating your mood, but does nothing for anxiety, from my experience. It could help with motivation.

Hi Phillipa,
That's a good question. I seem to recall that it was only working "some days" and after 14 days I got tired of the strange off and on again nature of it. Also, it was messing up my sleep schedule. Sometimes I have difficulty sticking to meds for a long enough time.
It's strange, but even right now I'm debating if I would be better starting Nardil (never tried) this week-end or trying Emsam again. Whatever it is, it will have to be at least a 12 week trial.

I'm still on Emsam at 6 mg and it is working for me. My depression is reduced and I have no anxiety and that was a big part of my depression this time around. Lots of fear and uncertainty.
I have been on 'E' for about 2 mos, seems longer, and I have thought of increasing to 9mg but in the last week I seem to be OK at 6 mg so I may wait a while.
It's hard to know when you need an increase in a med or when you are just experiencing normal plateaus that are part of life, rather than depressive tendencies that evolve into a worsening mood. I think for now I'll just wait and see what the New Year brings....
Happy New Year to all in finding peace and purpose in life. That is my goal...to find some meaningful life goals and not be so consumed with my depression.

That is good to finally hear some positive news. I do have Q: Was anxiety something that was bothering you before Ensam? Was it bothering you more or less than depression? And in your best descriptions, what did it do to the anxiety?
Are you taking anything else other than Ensam?
Thanks for sharing your story, Michael

Ugotta...
The latest episode with depression had alot of fear which caused me to not want to leave the house or even my bed.
Currently I am taking Emsam alone, although when I started it I was also on Seroquel at a very small dose, 50-100 mg, which I have essentially eliminated, athough on occasion I might taken it for insomnia. Last few nights I have not taken it. I'm of the opinion that less is more and although it did ensure a good sleep, sometimes it would make me sleep in too late, thus throwing off a good sleep/wake cycle.
If I sleep in, I stay up too late and then find it harder and harder to maintain a daily functional routine.
I did get more energized with Emsam but no increase in anxiety.

Thank you for your response. One clarification: Did you have "free floating anxiety" or some other fear that did not make you want to leave your bed, etc?
I have more of the free-floating type and I am hoping Ensam hit that!
