2 questions about Ritalin

Posted by Ryan2828 on December 27, 2006, at 7:23:38

Hi I am wondering two things.

In the morning I swallow 225mg XR of Effexor and 2 10mg Ritalin together thats 5 pills. Can this be alot for the body to handle at once? when they get mixed in the stomach after dissolving will it matter?

So coffee makes me pee, and it is acidic. If I drink coffee then some water about 10 minutes prior to swallowing 2x10mg of regular Ritalin will it make me pee out some Ritalin faster than without the coffee or will the acidity of coffee effect the Ritalin absorbtion?

I believe increasing stomach acidity by drinking coffee for example, decreases Ritalin absorption.

There are a few people here who say they are professional pharmacists etc., but ultimately this is a public message board and there is no way of verifying that with certainty. If in doubt the most reliable people to ask for technical infoemation are the prescriber and the dispensing pharmacist.

I agree with Quintal- one get can an awful lot of information here, but perhaps it's prudent to weigh some of it along with what the doctor and pharmacist say, too.

stimulant levels aren't going to be affected very much by water consumption and what not...once something's in your stomach it goes to your blood stream and a lot of it will cross the blood/brain barrier and change whats goin on in your brain.

Coffee will, however, make your stomach more acidic so less is absorbed. I think this is true of most stimulants, including the amphetamines.

There are some very intelligent people who post here but it's true this advise is advise of the people who take the meds and research them. Love Phillipa

I've actually found that both ritalin and adderall are a lot more potent on an empty stomache than they are with food.
