What kind of antypsychotics did you try before?
clozapine is a last-line treatment.

You can get up to 800 MG / day in divided doses (bigger ones before sleep). Don't give up!
What kind of psychosis did you get? voices? images?

You went from 100 mg to 500 mg ? Bit of a jump isn't it - a five fold increase? Maybe you should try 200 mg at bed time and see how that works or even 150 mg. Sometimes LESS is better than MORE. It is even possible that 100 mg was too much and you might do better on 50 mg... You will only know if you try it out.
I was once trying Seroquel for really resistant insomnia. I tried it at 25, 50, 75 and 100 mg. Nothing worked. Then I tried it at 12.5 mg and 6.25 mg - these are very rough approximations, it is not possible to cut a 25 mg tablet with such accuracy. I didn't get to sleep but approx. 8 mg did make the room move. I bet if I had started on 12.5 or 6.25 I would have been more lucky. My pdoc prescribed it at 50 mg. What does he know?
I don't know anything about clozapine, I've never used it. But doesn't it entail a lot of blood tests? If I was you I would experiment with varying doses of Seroquel first. You might hit the jackpot.

Hi,
Its your call Jeroen. If you want to try 225 mg you must have your reasons. Better keep a written record of how much you take, when you take it (the day and the time) and what your reaction is to it, how it made you feel. I've got a diary for this. Hopefully keeping a record like this will help you to find the best dose.
I hope you find a dose that keeps you well.

What are you taking antipsychotics for? In the post it seems like the main thing is insomnia? Or is it schizophrenia?
If it is insomnia, you might want to avoid the APs altogether and explore everything else...trazadone, sleeping pills, benzodiazepines.
If it is schizophrenia, and you've tried them all, clozapine is the gold standard in its class.

Dont ask me to explain, but there were times I took 25mg and was more tired than when I took 300mg.
This is the end of the thread.
