No, probably less depressed, it's a stimulant, why do you think so many are hooked on it?
around 60% of depressives smoke, up to 80% of those affected with schizophrenia also smoke heavily.

Some research shows that nicotine can make depression worse, but other research shows that it can make depression better.
So, it may depend on individual genetic factors.

I found that smoking made me feel better but then I would get depressed thinking about the damage that it was doing to my body. Rob

If smoking helps you may want to try an MAOI + nicotine. This should be a safer way to replicate the psychological effects.
