Amisulpride SUCCESS

Posted by per ekstrom on December 7, 2001, at 3:13:02

Hi all !

I got the best remission of my depression/dysthymia/inattentive adhd ever.

For about 6 years, I've tried about 20 different AD's without any real success.

I started on Amisulpride 10 days ago, real low, at 12.5 mg and increased it to 50mg where I am now. No side-effects (maybe some stomach upset but that could be due to the ginger-cockie season here in Sweden...:-))

Effect started as early as day 4/5. I am glad to know from psyco-babble and clinical trials that poop-out is not common, once the effect is there. Even so, I am so pleased to have found a new avenue to treat my condition, - that of increasing the dopaminergic tone by stimulating presynaptic DA receptors.

I think anyone with a treatment resistant depression should give it a try. Its easily available without Rx from overseas. But I would definityly recommend you to have you Pdoc with you if/when exploring this ave anyway.

All the best !!

These are good news!
I'm very interested in use of amisulprie, and i today I have given it a chance too.

Would you like to express me better the symptoms you suffer before the use of drug and where improvements appear?
Do you got, like me, dystimia with negative symptoms?

How do you feel now? Are you more active? Any side effects (tiredness, drowsiness)?

Let me know somwthing else and update your experience!

Hi Steve

Yes, I have suffered from dysthymia for something like 20-25 years ( I am now 39). I have never been psychotic but some of the typical negative symptoms yes...

My diagnosis is basicaly dyshymia/longtime depression with adhd/inattentive type.

The effect from Amusulpride is definitly the most positve change I have ever experienced. SSRI has certainly been able to lift my depression, but at the cost of blunted feelings. Now I am "with it", kind of hightended awareness/wellbeing or basically feeling "normal".

Drive and motivation has also uncreased considerably, not a pushy feeling but more due to reasons that seem to have more to do with lessened inhibition and better ability to feel reward.

I am taking upto 50 mg a day. mixing 10 mg of Procaz that I may quite altogheter. Was on 30 mg Procaz prior to amisulpride.

The only kind of side-effect I have is that I seem to need a bit of more sleep at night. NO tiredness in the day. But I am no longer the usual nightowl...

I am actually going to add Provigil/Modafinil to the pot in a few dyas. I'll let you know how it adds up.

Good luck to you !

Any improvements or side-effect during this period?
I'm interested in effects of amisulpride, could you update about your situation?
Bye and happy new year!
