Dr Bob,
I've just tried to reset my password again as I wanted to turn my babblemail. I asked for a reset and was expecting to receive a confirmation code by email. But I still haven't received one. I always seem to hit problems when I try to reset my password. Can you advise please?
Thanks....Denise

It is possible that depression and
other psychiatric illnesses may arise
after benzo, alcohol and other drug
use or withdrawal. If doctors know this
then they will presumably ask the personal
history of the patient when presenting
with depression. All drugs have a curve
of effect, peak, withdrawal and residual
effects. Psychiatrists must know this
before making a diagnosis.Squiggles

Hi,
Sorry about your password problems. I've redirected your post to the admin. board, where I think Dr. Bob might be more likely to see it sooner. Here is a link to your post there: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20061018/msgs/701835.html

Hi Squiggles
RESIDUAL EFFECTS: are those the effects which remain once complete withdrawal has taken place? Does Olanzapine have residual effects? I think so because I was suffering from insomnia and anxiety long after I had reduced to zero. (Or is that called 'rebound'?) So anxiety and insomnia could be residual effects of the drug Olanzapine? There was another effect: Zopiclone and Seroquel, both prescribed for sleep, just would not work until I went back on the Olanzapine again. You never find any mention of residual effects in the package leaflet (PL). Do all psychotropic drugs have residual effects? What about 'normal' drugs?
Forgive the persistent questioning but I am trying to 'learn the language' here. I cannot converse properly without the tools of the trade.
Please help me, anybody... :-)

It is not technical language of the "trade" or
the "art". I am not a doctor. To put it
simply, residual effects are those effects which wax and wane, until they finally stop, and you
reach the original state, before taking the drug.
Of course, in some cases, the changes are permanent, as in poisons for example, or toxic dosages which create long-lasting changes. To give you an example, a hangover from alcohol will last a certain time, and then stop. With some drugs the effects can take a long time to stop, depending on the drug, dose, metabolism.
I didn't mean anything mysterious.
