Klonopin Half Life

Posted by Izzy50 on October 18, 2006, at 20:13:56

My doctor suggested that I use Klonopin in place of Ambien for sleep.
She feels it is longer lasting for my anxiety issues. The problem is heart palpitations and anxiety.
I was hung over this morning from the Klonopin. I took it at about 10 pm and had to get up at about 7AM. I think I felt calmer today. But I will try again tonight an dsee how I feel tomorrow.
Any input is appreciated.

BTW- I have been on Lamictal for depression/BP II about 8 weeks now and it is working very well. Feeling better at 150mg than 100.I couldn't scrape myself off the floor 2 months ago.

Congrats. I'm glad things are looking up.

As for klonopin, it supposedly can be take once a day. Personally, I think that is bogus. I can tell I took it but for me it wears off. (I do need to take drugs more often usually... I must metabolize quickly.)

I think the "hangover" will go away in a few days. I hope so.

Plus, once your lamictal dose is at the right level it might be possible those symptoms will go away. You may manifest the hypomanic side of things as anxiety rather than euphoria.

Is your pulse irregular when you have these symptoms? A beta blocker would probably work better then. R.

My pulse is regular even though it feels like it is racing. My BP was 165/70 at the docs office yerterday while I was having symptoms, pulse regular too.I have been up to 60mg Inderal and it didn't do much but knock me out.
This morning I feel the heart thing even though I took the Klonopin last night. Hung over too.
And, yes. I do manifest the hypomania as anxiety.
I am experimenting with meditation.
Thanks
Izzy

Half live 18 to 30 hrs depends on where you read. I take 2mg at night and dont feel it. Took a few weeks to adjust. It is a good benzo for sleep but ambien is better. I can feel it wearing off toward early evening and wish I had started on splitting doses. If I dont take 2 I cant sleep. I still wake up after 5-6 hrs. Lunestra 3mg 7-8 hrs. K often prescibed for BP as well as anxiety. Active metabolites stay in your system longer. Better than Xanax for me, After years I needed 1mg every 4 hrs to feel normal.

Klonopin is working great for my sleeping problems.(.5 mg) I am ditching the Ambien.

It also seems to be calming the anxiety, not totally, but much better. I feel "even". I don't have much hangover if I take it at about 9PM to wake at 7AM.

The palpitations are still there, but not choking me as before.

NP told me that we have three diaphrams (chakras?) and if one is blocked (anxiety) it can block the others. Hence the tightness in my throat is gone.

I have been doing my yoga and breathing meditations. I think it is a good adjunct therapy.

I hope this combination of medications is the magic bullet. Effexor 150 mg/Lamictal 150 mg/Klonopin .5mg.

I take 100mg of Provigil as needed.
