I find CR to work almost identically to regular ambien for me: it helps me fall asleep but I'm wide awake a few hours later, which is probably a rebound effect.
If I'm not mistaken CR 12.5 mg simply releases 10 mg immediately likely regular ambien, and then 2.5 mg about 4 hours later---which isn't much at all. Regards...Saturn.

Personally my doctor writes it for 10mg Ambien, with 10 to take if it doesn't work. I basically take 20mg. But I'm not benzodiazepine naive.
Beyond about 25mg it doesn't have any therapeutic value and in fact can be nauseating (recreational use thereof, from what I have heard -- not obviously that I'm suggesting such.)
Ambien regular becomes generic in October.
This is the end of the thread.
