If you can help..
I am taking 1 mg of Xanax (0.5 twice daily) for the past one or two months. Do you think this dose is too high to cause signifant withdrawal problems if I want to stop ? I took same amount of Klonopin in the past for years but had no problems to come off. I stopped it almost cold turkey.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.PLS

Xanax is shorter acting and your dose of Klonopin was higher. Maybe some rebound anxiety. Love Phillipa

Noooooo....I wouldn't ever try Xanax cold turkey. I can stop taking Klonopin, too, but Xanax is a different fish. Try taking 0.25 mg for one of the times you take 0.5 mg and see what happens...you won't have to wait long. I'd suggest (from my experience) going slowly, as stinky as that seems. If decreasing by 0.25 mg causes a withdrawal, there are lots of other ways of doing it rather than cold turkey. Xanax sudden withdrawal is mighty nasty.

For one or two months, at that dose, you're probably ok. Just don't take too much time to wean off of it and you'll be fine.

You know, every med affects everyone differently. Benzos are great meds. They get a bad rep from ppl who use them for recreational and NOT medicinal uses.

decrease any stimulants (coffee, soda)
and take long walks when you are used to taking a dose
ease off a bit if you want
it's not bad though
do you have any alternate plans for dealing with anxieties?
good luck

> PLSThat's about 10mg of Valium -- you could even convert your entire dosage to Valium in a 24 hour period and reduce from Valium instead. But its not a large dose of benzodiazepine by any means. Usually about 10+% per week or less if you can't stand it. Only suggesting converting to Valium because then you don't have to worry about short half lives and the double withdrawal between the two times you take the Xanax (which is sometimes actually taken 4 times a day.)
You'll get there
Best wishes
