Why won't my leg stop bouncing?

Posted by exquilter on September 3, 2006, at 22:58:59

Which med is most likely to be causing this obnoxious symptom? I'm currently taking:

Abilify 5mg
Celexa 40mg
Cytomel 50mcg
Concerta 54mg
Depakote 500mg
Neurontin 1800mg
Xalatan drops for glaucoma

It is most often my right leg but if I sit on it my left one does it instead. I also have a lot of tremor at times (worse when I'm tense). We have tried reducing the dose of Abilify and Depakote recently but not a lot of change. It goes on all day long but not while I'm sleeping. I don't usually feel especially anxious when this is going on. Is this some form of akathisia? Ideas anyone?

Maybe it's some kind of akathisia caused by Abilify?

Happens to me too. My pdoc says she doesn't know why. I think it's plain old anxiety. Love Phillipa ps hence not while you're sleeping.

I think from my brother's experience the Abilify, but talk to your doc.

I get that a lot from MAOIs. It is nothing to be concerned with, though. I am curious as to which drug(s) are causing this with you. It might be the result of combining Concerta and Cytomel. You are getting a nice noradrenergic effect here. Abilify is a possibility too, although it is not akathisia. Perhaps this side effect will mitigate with time.

Thanks to all of you. I had hoped for a simpler answer. The Abilify seems to be the most likely as it was the last one added, but it has put an end to my suicidal thinking and helped my mood, however, I'm really tired of always being in motion. Leg is painful by the end of the day too.
Without the Concerta I fall asleep whenever I sit down. Sigh....

Well, there is another answer.

It could be that your leg is still and the rest of the world, including the rest of yourself, is bouncing. It all depends on your point of view.

I'm sorry that your leg ends up in pain by the end of the day. When I get like that, it always seems as a good way to "bleed" off excess anxiety.

I hope you find an answer that helps. ((((exquilter)))))
