Saw my pdoc today. She writes on addictions for Jama and other journals. She's not benzophobic believes in them. So today she recognized that my anxiety was out of control and prescribed nirazem for during the day with the valium l5-20mg at night. She said it dissoves on your tongue. And try to stabalize. Eventually stop with weaning the luvox and still thinks 1/4 of a 6 mg EMSAM patch will work for me. Any infor? Love Phillipa

I've had a dissolving Klonopin, but haven't heard of Nirazem. I wish my doctor would switch me to something like that because the Klonopin gives me a headache and makes me feel even more depressed.

So Phillipa, you are going ahead with the EMSAM? I am still wondering what to do. I am gaining a whole cabinet full of antidepressants and don't know which to take. I have 5mg prozac, 6mg EMSAM and 75mg. wellbutrin sitting in my cupboard and don't take any of them (well I tried the Prozac but don't take it every day.) I seem to be a bit more on edge even on 5mg. prozac.
Let us know how you do on the Nirazam. Is this for immediate relief from panic attacks? I do well on the regular release xanax and am sticking with it for the rest of my life I guess. I am holding at 1.75mg., somtimes 2mg/day. My anxiety overrides the depression but if the anxiety is under control, the depression is so miserable! I see my pdoc tomorrow and she is going to be mad at me because I am afraid of all the antidepressants!

Valene we're twins. It's just supposed to act quicker I guess. I still don't know about the EMSAM. And my anxiety controls my depression too. My cabinet as well is full.Haven't tried it yet. The PHD here I saw his notes in the chart and he said I should be hospitalized for severe depression. He doesn't believe in benzos . He's the one who told me they were depressing. So now I'm depressed. I'm too suggestive. I hate meds. Love Phillipa

Well the bigshot doctor I saw in Boston who charged me cash (doesn't take insurance) fully believes in benzos for severe anxiety and/or panic. They work for me and I will keep on taking them. Glad you got to see your old pdoc, even though she is so far away. I do not think xanax is depressing in low dosages. I have heard that klonopin can be but never took it anyway. I actually think xanax helps me a bit with depression. I know what you mean about suggestible! Look it up on pubmed xanax+depression I think they used to advertize that xanax has mild antidepressant properties.

Yes when I took just xanax it did act as a mild antidepressant. Klonopin is the one that made me feel suicidal and I wasn't. The pdoc immediatedly switched me back to xanax and it was fine. Love Phillipa

Phillipa, good luck - the xanax works fine for me I love the stuff ((well I have to since I'm hooked on a small dose) but it is the best at reducing bad fear and panic.
