I need help, advice or whatever anyone can offer. I take 300mg of effexor for anxiety/panic disorder. It work well for that. The problem is I have not sleep more than 3hrs a nite since my dose has been upped. I take ativan but it doesn't help. I sweat a ton and have muscle ticks all through the night. What in the world is this med doing to my body?

I had that sort of problem when I started Effexor and every time my dose was increased. It always went away after a week or two, so if you can hold out for a bit longer, it's likely to pass for you, too.
Congratulations on finding something that's working for you! I hope the problems do pass quickly for you, so you can continue taking something that works!

Maybe talk to your doctor to see how much ativan you can safely take until your body acclimates. Either that or get him to prescribe a short term trial of 200 mg Seroquel nightly, that stuff will put you out, no negotiation, no ifs ands or buts.

Thank you for the advice. I will ask him at my next appointment. The funny thing is I never had these problems until we raised the dose from 275 to 300. I guess that 25mg is just enough.

Effexor can really mess with your sleep.
Just don't let the doctor lable you bipolar because effexor makes you agitated.

If you want to try Seroquel, I would suggest starting with a lower dose first, perhaps 25-50 mg. Sometimes, the higher doses do not seem to work as well for sleep as do lower dosages. Trazodone might also be worth trying for sleep. If the sweating persists, Cymbalta may be a better choice than Effexor.Todd

Has anyone heard of nirazem? A xanax thats melts on your tongue for panic that can accompany other meds? Love Phillipa

I have been on 90 mg of Cymbalta, which is a pretty high dose.
I get the sweaty twitchies when I increase my dose too.
And i take 25 mg of seroquel every night to help me fall asleep.
Some amount of twitchy is still there, but it's not very noticeable, and pretty slight.
I wear deoderant sometimes to bed, if i feel sweaty, and I keep my fan on.
I take my dose at night, but you may try switching to the morning if the activation is too intolerable as you lie in bed... twitching and sweating...

I had the exact same problem when I was on Effexor. I would wake up soaked right through my pyjamas and, if the sweating didn't wake me up, the jerks or muscle spasms would. Sometimes the jerks/spasms were so bad I was practically bouncing off the bed. For me, these things never passed the longer I was on the med. Effexor was not for me.
