Lowered benzo doses; stopped BP med; Emsam day 23

Hi guys. Things seem to be going pretty well with the Emsam so far -- looking forward to moving up to the 30mg patch on Thursday. I'm no longer getting such an energizing feel from it, but it seems to keep me motivated and on task when I need to be. And still no depressive symptoms... plus I've found it *very* pro-sexual; a big plus for an AD in my book!

Perhaps more importantly, I've been able to cut my Xanax dose over the past 10 days from 2mg all the way down to 1mg daily. A far cry from the 16mg I was on not long ago. Seems as if the Emsam is making me more able to cope with social situations that would normally petrify me... doesn't really reduce anxiety, but that's what the Xanax is for. :-)

Still take Dalmane (flurazepam) occasionally for sleep, but I've been able to get by with 30-60mg instead of my usual 90mg or so. The horrible bitter, metallic taste that flurazepam always seems to leave in my mouth in the morning is almost not even there now at this dose.

I was taking Avapro 150mg for mild hypertension the past few months. My BP was a bit low at my appointment this past week though, so I've been taken off that now. Yet another pill I don't have to worry about!

Just one question: I know it makes sense, it being an MAOI and all, but has anyone else noticed a decidedly increased caffeine sensitivity while on Emsam? I don't drink coffee much anymore as it is, but the other day I drank maybe half a cup and very soon felt queasy and jittery. Anyone?

Cheers,
Michael

Could it be like luvox that intensifies the effects of caffeine. And I'm glad the EMSAM is working well for you. Love Phillipa
