it is a SSRI so why is it said to treat social anxiety w/ depression but other SSRI's don't??

Because the manufacturer GSK spent the money required on studies to verify its efficacy in this disorder and then marketed the drug for it. Other SSRIs should also show efficacy.Todd

AND not all SSRI's are the same. There are several serotonin neurotransmitters.
