have been on 150mg of Effexor XR for 5 years. My panic attacks are gone. A couple times a week I get a tingly nervous sensation. The hairs on my hand and back of my calves "stand on end," and I feel a mild sense of unreality, so I take .5 mg Clonazepam and I calm down. Problem is I think I am getting some ringing in my ears like a butterfly, the feeling I have gotten when accidentally forgetting to take the Effexor for a day or two. But again, I feel this way sometimes when I take it regularly. I wonder if on occasion there is less medication in a random tab and I am getting a reaction as though I skipped a dose. Any others feel the same?

yep, have felt this and similars on occasion as well (total of ~4 years effexor with a 1 year gap). I doubt it has to do with the dosage though. I think it is more the complex action of this drug and interactions with a bunch of endogenous factors - all with different pharmacokinetics and the drug itself clears out relatively fast. I think it can be compared to diabetics having the occasional hypoglycemia.
worst recurring side-effect is the ringing of ears(sort of prelude to real zaps)
side note: I've been a real fool and forgot to stock up before my doctor went on vacation. Went from 150mg to 0, third day, I'm going bananas - head feels like a pinball machine: the zaps are preceded by strong ringing

Dancing Fool. Thanks for your insights. The ringing in the ear does seem to hit me now and then, plus the sexual stuff-It takes longer to "complete", but that's fine with her!
Sorry you stockpile ran out. I bet you can score 5 or 10 pills at the emergency room. Did you try that? Otherwise track down your doctor like in the movie "What About Bob." !

hi steveizme,
got myself sorted last night (stockpilewise). I was in a bad shape (vertigo, zaps, sweats, splitting headache). Good news: less than 30'after taking 150mg all withdrawl symptoms were gone, apart from feeling a little exhausted (who wouldn't :-). Back on 75mg a day now and feeling ok. Hope you don't get too many recurring side-effects. I'll let you know if I do.
cheers

> dancing foolI am relieved you got your supply back. I am grateful this drug exists, but I do wonder what would happen if I were snatched by some Muslim group as a hostage and didn't have my pills. I'd be puking all over them!- Steve
