Hi,
I crashed on vacation, a fishing trip. I was with my wife and my kids and with another family, good friends of mine.
I've had a mixed state episode during this trip. This friend, one of my best friend was not aware of my condition, my bipolar disorder. He didn't understand what happened. My wife thinks about to split. She can not take it anymore, although i had been stable for 8 or 9 months.
I see my pdoc in 2 weeks. Not sure what to do with my medecine. What would you do? I'm taking the following meds:
- Effexor 150 mgs
- Lithium 1100 mgs (0.7)
- Lamictal 150 mgs
- Seroquel (25 mgs as needed)Right now, i'm exhausted and depressed, somewhat anxious. My self-esteem does not exist anymore. My heart is broken. I feel myself alone.
Any kind of tips would be appreciated... Thanks

Dear Maximus,
I really related to your post.
I was on a cruise with my husband in May, and I wound up spending a great deal of it in my room, crying and wishing I were dead.
I hope you feel better again.

Maximus get on the phone to your doc now and see what to do. It sounds like if anxiety is high that more seroquel might help. But I'm not an expert or doc. Call a professional. And I'm truly sorry your wife is so upset. Probably if she talks and goes with you to your docs she'll have a better understanding of what happened to do. You didn't stop any meds did you? Love Phillipa

Hi,
No i have not stop any meds. Sure i will call my pdoc today. But meanwhile i want to avoid further problem and wish to climb up again the "mountain" as quickly as i can. A little more Effexor or Lamictal could help me. I dunno.
Right now, the ugly head of depression is lying to me.
Thanks

Thanks for your support.
It's pathetic, isn'it? Now imagine a mixed state where you have aggressivity, anxiety, insomnia et depression, all at the same time... Whoa. I'm never used to it.
I hope you're well now. Bye.

Salut mon ami! :-)
I don't have any suggestion for you re. medication. Do you think your crash is the result of result of environmental/situational factors or chemical. Prior to crashing was your wife supportive of you? Maybe you don't need a med change ... maybe you need talk therapy.
I feel for you.
Let us know what happens (med change etc.).
Hugs,
Maxime

Salut Maxime,
My mood is better today. I have no more melancholy. Anxiety is under control. But my energy has not returned yet. My memory is so so too.
It is probably 80% chemical related. Lack of sleep also contributed for the other 20%. That is just a guess.
Spouse is calmer now. But she is very tired of my bi-annual breakdown, though.
I don't like therapy, but it would be a good idea to reconsider it as i have sometimes a distorted cognition.
Thanks for your help.
Max xxxx
