Which of these would be best for chronic myofascial pain?
And if I've had problems with other anti-convulsants, will I have problems with neurontin or Lyrica.
If I've had problems with Wellbutrin and Strattera will I have problems with Cymbalta? Thanks,
fw

FYI
the strongest side effect I noticed from cymbalta is urinary hesitation. Sometimes I have to push to pee (sorry folks!). It hasn't been painful, but uncomfortable. I have been on 30,60, and now 90 mg. I think that it might be going away a bit, after 7 weeks. the first 2-3 weeks I had to get up in the middle of the night because my bladder was sending me mixed messages. Then I'd sit on the toilet, and wait... and wait... arghgh!I think the mechanism involved is the serotonin? receptors on the lowermost sphincter of the bladder,
and while we're on such a lovely theme- micturation: the term for the behavior of urination. Well, unfortunately, when you gotta go, sometimes you don't have conscious control over release of this tiny muscle. I never gave much thought to it before cymbalta. Coffee seems to help, if you can tolerate it.
best wishes FW!

I asked for Lyrica and instead was put on a mega dose of Nuerontin,...3 800 mg tabs a day.
I remeber seeing tv ads about Nuerontion being in lawsuits due it increasing depression and suicidal ideation.
I remeber saying to myself that although i dident really care for it,i dident regard it as that bad.
Well i failed to realise for pain and mood lots of doctors will bring this up very high into the gram doses, and a lot of compliants were from people on such.
Well even though i felt totaly wrong doing it,i listened to my doc as i sometimes do,and as i initialy felt in my gut that dose was absurd for me,.....in a matter off days i felt totaly whacked, depression totaly different and unique, not good.
I have broought it back down to a more as needed dose accompanying a benzo occasionaly which is how i found Nuerotion to work best, its a drug that really seems to have a accumaltion effect.
I guess my point is if ur going to be on a high dose off it,be careful cause there is a quick false euphoira that is very very quickly followed by depression, and u might not realise at that time the high dose Nuerontin could be the culprit,id start slow on it.

Do you have concurrent anxiety/depression issues along with the myofascial pain? And do you have fibromyalgia tender points also?
As Cymbalta has both SSRI and NRI effects, if you've had problems with Strattera, my guess is that Cymbalta would not be a good choice. Have you tried an SSRI? What effect did it have?
Wellbutrin works on both norepinephrine and dopamine, so the NRI aspect of Cymbalta might be a problem.
I have myofascial pain along with fibromyalgia and I have yet to find a medication that helps with the myofascial issues.
Lyrica continues to be of help for sleep, but pooped out the way Neurontin did for muscle relaxation.
Do you get many side effects from drugs and are you sensitive to doses?

No she dident start me out on this,we were brainstorming,or i thought we were, seems only one semi functional brain was there,mine,...of a augment stratgey.
Id told her Nuerontion was one of the anti convulsants i could at least tolerate,id personaly asked about combining a smaller dose of the Nurontion, which would have been less than 800 mg daily i was on,with a small dose of lamictal. The two drugs have two modes of action that i thought might work togther.
If not that,i asked to at least try lyrcia, instead of either option her response from left field was up to Nuerontion to 3800.I showed my disagreement, but it was blown off.I tried it two days, and i know i dont want to feel like that, sooo after the long wait,i simply am back to where i was prior to waiting for that 3 week appt,on the same exact meds that i have been.
Yet this is the care im supposed to accept.

Hi Cairo,
I've had adverse reactions to low doses of many meds., including SSRI's, Wellbutrin, and Topamax. Other than urinary hesitation, Strattera was good at 40 mg, but I had adverse reactions at 80 mg.
I do have a lot of anxiety, and some minor depression - I think getting rid of the pain would help.
I was thinking along the same lines, if Wellbutrin and Strattera were not good, Cymbalta wouldn't be. And if I've had probs with anti-convulsants, then prob. neurontin and Lyrica wouldn't be good.
I'm with you, if I could just find something to help my muscles relax! My gp once said I had fibryo, but this doc said he didn't think so.
