If at first I am diagnose as bipolar, but now things seem to be cyclothemic,...
Does the "mid-point" of a bipolar swing from manic to depressive and vice versa seem cyclothemic or am I overanalyzing?
Can anyone define the difference better?
Distinct but not severe mania, distinct but not severe depression. Pretty intense episodes of both, but the middle is insanely unbearable.
When I hit the middle, I cycle rapidly, several times in one day. Feeling like two magnets getting closer and closer until one is forced to flip over.

maybe you have more of a ultra-rapid cycling or even a mixed mania type issue going on.
cyclothymia usually has the duration of about a week of high and low neither one being severe enough to warrant hospitalization or may not even effect work or outside life.so when you say 'middle' do you mean when you switch from mania to depression? or do you mean in the middle of mania?
not quite sure i am understanding correctly on that.
but either way it sounds terribly unpleasant. and i think you should have a chat with your pdoc. is this new? could it be the result of a new med you've been put on?
or maybe they just need to rethink your regimine, and include a mood-stabilizer.either way, we're here for ya curt!
hang in there.

I was referring to when I switch from mania to depression (halfway between here and there) At some point near or at the median line. I am not on meds right now because the mood stabilizer quit working and I want to be clean when I start CBT. Then I'll get back on some drugs. Taking an ADD test next week, but I doubt that will be conclusive. We'll see.
