I just increased my dosage of Nardil from 45mg to 60mg about a week ago. I am feeling very spaced out and tired most of the time and getting up at ridiculously early times in the morning. About how long does it usually take for these side effects to go away? I am even having difficulty writing this message. BTW, any word with psycho in it should be banned. It's too hard to spell!

I had early awakening with Nardil early on as well. I don't remember exactly how long it lasted, maybe 2 months or so? I take Ambien now to make sure I sleep well, and that seems to really help with early awakening. I've always had sleep problems though, usually trouble falling asleep, so you may not need a sleep aid to get through this.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I take oxazapam for sleep, but wake up about every hour. I was wondering when the spaced out feeling went away. That's the real killer!

Hmmm, I was about to say I never had that with Nardil. But....maybe it's just that I am a space cadet all the time. ;) (I have ADHD, inattentive type, too).
I also take Provigil for the ADHD. It helps some, and it's safe to take with Nardil with caution. Perhaps that would help? I've also heard that it helps folks develop a more regular sleep cycle. Might be worth asking about.

Hi Phillipa,
I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but it deserves repeating. In my opinion, the reason so many on this board are on MAOIs is because they are treatment resistant. I have used more than 35 combinations of medications and Nardil is the only one that has worked for me. If you took the general population of depressed patients, I think you would find that one of the SSRIs would work for most of them. Not the case with me or many others who post here.
Take care,
Jedi
