what EXACTLY happens when you mix wine in?...

Posted by heaven help me on June 14, 2006, at 10:50:25

I know I've asked this, sort of, before but I do not want to give up my glass of wine with dinner. What I would like to know is exaclty WHAT risks am I taking by doing so? Can anyone sort this out for me? My PA simply says yes one visit, no the next... I am confused. Here is the regime:
am:Syntrhoid, B,C,E,Actos,garlic, olive leaf
4pm: Valium (and this ONLY 1 or 2 days a week)
7pm: dinner and wine
9-10pm: Geodon, Lamictal, Resoril
TIA!

Hi, Mary,

I can't really advise you directly, but you might want to check out this website: www.crazymeds.org. It's pretty helpful as far as touching on the alcohol + APs (or ADs) and the like. From what I understand, it's not recommended that you mix APs and alcohol, but there may be some folks out there (on APs) who know better and disagree.

Could you maybe substitute the wine for a non alchoholic version? Love Phillipa

I'm on a fair dose of Seroquel and have drunk alcohol without an issue. Its more an issue with the high benzodiazepine level I have. I don't drink very much 1) because of that but 2) more primarily because its empty calories and I'm trying to lose weight.

I would say a glass of wine with what you are taking is probably not terribly harmful every so often, but don't take it too close to the Restoril, which is a fairly potent benzodiazepine for sleep.

A glass of wine will probably help you, especially if it's red wine. That's my opinion.

I've researched this on Medlineplus.gov, on crazymeds.com and on meds4dumbelss.com and i come to the conclusion that a glass of wine with dinner (NOT WITH the meds) should be ok. It is what I have been doing and it seems to have no adverse effects (unless my "vertigo" or slight tingling of face at bed time are effects)
Thanks to everyone for your input!
