Hello,
Everytime I seem to add a mood stabilizer or alter the dosing I get really unstable, either becoming very depressed or hypomanic... its really strange.. anyone had a similar experience?

Yep. Me too. Mood stabilizers don't seem to stabilize me.
Depakote brought me to near normal immediately on the first day, not quite as good second day, and then from that point on for 2 months I had the same mood swings as without depakote. My mood swings varied from mildly depressed to very depressed, never manic.
Lamictal on day one had me feeling quite good, second day I could feel the depression lurking right around the corner, third day I had a weak attempt at suicide.
When I was on paxil, and later prozac, my moods were very stable. Antidepressants are said to worsen mood swings in bipolars, but for me that never happened. The best mood stabilizers in my history were ssri's. Though some docs have said I have bipolar, I have always insisted I don't.

I've tried Lithium, Depakote, and Lamictal for a mood stablizer. All they did was make me more depressed. Yeah, the hypomania (which I loved) was gone, but so was every other feeling except for really bad depression. 98% of the time I have no will to do anything even live and then I'll one morning wake up and feel like cleaning like crazy the whole day but still feel depressed. Then the next day it's back to bed ridden depression. I don't think any of these have "stablized" anything. I'm completely flat and feel no love at all on these meds. For me, they take away the good and leave the bad.
This is the end of the thread.
