My Mom says I got a toothache from having excess heat. I dunno about that...

Interesting, you may have sensitive teeth, or a tooth, where when you switch from hot to cold drinks and food you get very raw pain shooting through the nerves in the teeth. (I think this is a western approach) I've had this recently, the pain was severe. I switched to a sensitive tooth paste and it worked. Not sure if your tooth was related to sensitivity..
I do find the Chinese, Hong Kong, Japan etc.. ancient culture, martial arts etc absolutely facinating. And, not forgetting their approach to medicine.
