oops i meant to post this- I started taking nardil 30mgs about 7 days ago and I am floored in a daze. I have almost no concentration or focus. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this maybe just a side effect that I need to ride out for another week and it will fade? any suggestions?

________________I started Nardil about 20 days ago, and have been in a mental daze, which is almost a tactile sensation in my head. It is very strange, and both focus and motivation are reduced.
I reduced my dose from 45mg/day to 15mg, but am uncertain about whether this has helped. Nardil also makes me weary.
The only other thing I know is that I experienced much the same when I took the MAOi Deprenyl (EMSAM/Selegiline) at high doses.
I wish I knew whether this side-effect is normal, whether it will pass, or any other information.

Hey Psychobot
When you were taking deprenyl and it made you weary, what was your doseage?
TIA

Up to 20mg per day, deprenyl had few side-effects. I moved up to 30, and found myself in the same "brain fog" that I experienced with Nardil, as well as, possibly, some weariness. I tentatively hypothesized that it was the onset of significant MAO A inhibition that did it, but who knows.

Yes, that's what I'd have thought too. If that's so you don't have to inhibit a great % of it to get the fatigue.....that starts straight away on Parnate, I think.

Hi,
I felt more depressed than ever sometimes on Nardil, I rang my brother and he told my mum I sounded drunk as my speech was so slurred. I also remember just wanting to lie down all the time on it, couldn't muster up a smile if I tried. I gave up on it after a month and it's put me off MAOIs for good. I think I might have started on too high a dose though in my inpatience to feel better.
