I'm starting EMSAM again tomorrow and I have two questions:
1) For those who are taking it, what effect (if any) have you noticed in terms of appetite and/or weight? (I know that the studies say it is weight-neutral and might cause loss but they said that about the SSRIs, too.)
2) When I was using it, it felt like torture having to rip it off the following morning and I'd be left with a patch-shaped rash that lasted several days. Is there any way to minimize this? Any lotions I can use to soothe my skin or help with the actual act of removing the patch?

I've been on EMSAM just short of a month now and though I may have lost a pound or two haven't noticed a significant reduction in appetite. It's about the same. That said I've felt better and have been going to the gym more often which might explain a little weight loss.
I can't help you with the redness as it just hasn't been a problem for me. Best of luck! Rob

Hi Tyger
How about trying hydrocortisone cream for the rash?

I guess the hydrocortisone cream is okay just don't put the patch in the same place. Now sure if it matters or not just to be safe . And good luch tigereyes. Love Phillipa

I've been switching the location of the patch ... I will try the cream .. & ask my pharmacist if there's anything that can help w/ the actual removal.

Go to the health food store and get lavender essential oil and natural aloe. Mix the two and dab it on the area.
You might be surprised how well this combo works for any skin irritations.(esp. sunburns)
Peace,
Kaye
