I have been on 40mg of Parnate for the last year and even though my mood has improved, I have not slept the night. I am going to be switching, but my psych wasn't sure how long I had to be off the Parnate before I could start the patch. I am deathly afraid of being off my meds, so if it two weeks or so, I don't think I want to make the switch. Any feed back? Thank you.

My doctor, who worked on the EMSAM trials, told me to wait one week in between. I waited one week and did not experience a hypertensive crisis.
He said if I wanted to be extra cautious, to wait two weeks. However, I am not an "extra cautious" person and therefore only waited seven days
However, I would not switch before one week. I did the reverse - EMSAM to Parnate - after two days and had a horrible hypertensive crisis.

If I remember, Parnate is weird in that it's a (non-hydrazine?) irreversible MAOI that nevertheless recovers MAO activity within 3-5 days. So a week would sound just right.
I could be totally wrong on that.
