Hi there;
I just started taking Cymbalta today.
I'm starting at the 20mg mark.
Not feeling great. Am noticing I am feeling somewhat irritable (which I HATE!). I'm wondering if this is a side effect that will pass. Have others experienced this? Has it passed?
Thanks.

Has it passed?I did not experience anything like that when I first started Cymbalta. However, it does remind me of the reaction I had when I tried my first antidepressant, imipramine. After my first dose, I felt slightly energized, but irritable. It disappeared within a day or two.
It is difficult to account for the many startup side effects that these drugs can produce. Hopefully, the irritability will disappear quickly. These drugs do take a while to work. It might be 3 weeks before you begin to sense an improvement.
Good luck.

I've sampled cymbalta several times in the 1mg to 5mg range. Each time I kind of liked the first few hours of boosted mood and energy, but then later it turned into hints of agitation, irritation, and restlessness. I was glad I hadn't taken any more than I did.
I noticed in clinical trials that while depression and anxiety improved over time, the one thing that did not show any improvement at any timepoint was agitation.
Since you have enough effort and hope invested in cymbalta, you might want to just start with tiny doses and inch your way up by maybe 2mg a day or something like that. The agitation might go away. Of course, I've never been brave enough to find out.

Interesting question. As the first time nothing good or bad on 60mg and the second time I couldn't handle 30mg without my feeling like it would exlode. Blueberry may be on the something. Sounds like a good idea. Good luck Love Phillipa

> Thanks.I just started cymbalta 30 mg on the 3rd. I felt kind of bitchy and irritable on the 4th, and better on the 5th. My main side effect so far is anxiety at nighttime. I feel kind of high and like I'm on stimulants, and I couldn't sleep for 2 nights straigt. Finally on the 3rd night I fell asleep, but it was fitful and unsatisfying. Nonetheless, I haven't really slept more than a few hours in row a month or so, so it's not surprising that insomnia would continue.
Hope you're doing better!
