What can you do if I'm feeling suicidal in the UK?
I really feel to ill to work, I hate my work anyway (I'm a hospital porter).
Unfortunatly I'm living with my parent who a not very sympathetic.
Last week my dad told me that I'd be Sectioned if I tried to go into a psych hospital.(Sectioned means "locked up" for those who don't aren't familiar with UK terminology)
Please what can I do?
I really need time away from my parents and work were I can recover a bit.
Don't know how I'm going to manage this :(

Tom,
Will you call me tomorrow? You have my phone number.
You won't be sectioned unless you are seen to be very suicidal. People are often sectioned after a suicide attempt, for example. I was once in a psych hospital but I wasn't sectioned. About half of the people on my ward had been sectioned. Most people who have been sectioned are not locked up, but they are not allowed to leave. Violent patients are likely to be locked up.

Hey Tom, I'm sorry to hear that you are not feeling well at the moment. :(
I hope you rang Ed. Are you stopping the marplan and starting up on the parnate?
Perhaps you could take some time off work as annual leave? Or even as unpaid? You could get a sick note from your GP.
very very warm regards
Meri

Thank you all
Your responses mean a lot to me!
Why is it that people who experience mental health problems are generally much kinder than others?
Take care anyway
I will call Ed tommorow if he still wants to speak to me

Hi from across the Pond. I don't know you, but please hang in there, and remember depression is an illness, and is treatable. There's always hope, and someday, you'll look back on this time and see that you've survived it.
Two and a half years ago, I was just sitting in my house, crying and crying and unable to do anything, and not wanting to meet anyone new. I even had to close my successful business, because I couldn't attend to it.
I went through a series of medications and talk therapy, and while I never found the perfect med or the perfect doctor, I am sufficiently improved to be able to look back at that time the same way I recall feeling really bad with a flu I've gotten over, and say, "Boy, I felt like crap, but I'm better now."
Hope that helps.
