Hello! I have anxiety problems and have been put on prozac and olanzapine. I have been taken off olanzapine recently. I have a lack of feelings while on both, and still do while off olanzapine (only for a few days).
The thing is my feelings are not numbed or anything, I can express them, like I can look/be sad or angry or cry or laugh, but inside I don't feel anything. Also I don't remember what feelings feel like. I also can't feel atmosphere when I enter a room, etc, but I'm not sure that's from the prozac. Occasionally I get some feelings, but very rarely and not very strongly. Does anyone have anything similar happen and what do you do about it?

Hi
This seems to be a common side effect of SSRIs and related meds. I would recommend that you decrease the dose of Prozac, as little as 5mg/day can be enough for some people. If the problem persists at a lower dose, you may need to stop Prozac.......in which case you might need to switch to a different type of antidepressant.

So is the prozac responsible for me not feeling atmopshere too? or is it something else? I find the not feeling atmosphere the most disappointing. Sometimes I do feel it, but it's almost like I have to go to a different thought state to feel it, so when I come out of it I can't recall the feeling. it's hard to explain.

Perhaps, but I haven't heard anyone mention that symptom before.
What dose of Prozac are you taking?

I'm not very sure, but I know it's not I high dose. I think it might be around half of the highest you can take. I think the not feeling atmosphere might be something else, like derealization or depersonalization, but I'm not sure.

Yes that could very well be from anxiety. Was it happening before you started the medication? The problem is that Prozac is notorious for causing apathy and emotional blunting in some people so if it started after the Prozac was introduced I would suspect that.
As for the anxiety I think the best thing is therapy specifically for anxiety-CBT or something in that line and Benzos as needed.

Yes I think it was happening before the medication. My memory is really bad too ;p

In case you missed it, see this thread. I think it relates to you (or, more accurately)... you, myself, and many others.
