About a month ago I started taking Welbutrin. I'm up to 300 mg's a day. But I feel horrible. It's made my depression worse than it originally was, I'm so tired ALL the time, I have anxiety like I've never had it before, and I have absolutely no appatite.
If I was close to my doctor I would go see her. Or go see my pdoc. But they are both far away. Should I chance it and see a doc here? Should I just stop taking it? Any ideas?

How long have you been taking 300mg?

Just an opinion, but personally I would cut it back to 150mg with a likelihood of stopping it altogether in a week or two after that. The appetite side effects and anxiety side effects are completely destructive to you getting well. Not to mention that it is making you feel worse. Just so you know, one of the listed possible side effects is depression. Go figure. Anyway, you could call your doctor.

My vote goes for the reduction to 150 mg, too. I had pretty much the same thing happen at 300 mg, including periods of fearful depression several times a day. I cut back to 150 mg and away the depressed/fearful periods went...I was on 300 mg for about 6 months. Now I'm taking 150 mg and have no idea whether it is doing anything at all. At least I'm not as anxious. When I dropped from 300 mg to 150 mg I felt a little dizzy for a couple days, but that was it.
Good luck!

If you're anxious like I am wellbutrin can make you appear hypomanic as it did me and put me in the hospital. It was just stopped. Love Phillipa

Are you tired from inability to sleep or insomnia? If so, something should be prescribed by your doctor for that, preferably a real sleep aid like Lunesta or Ambien/AmbienCR.
The appetite thing is not surprising, it was derived from Tenuate, an appetite suppresant agent and is very distantly related to amphetamines.
I believe it would be beneficial for you to discuss with your doctor on her phone or email if possible in detail about this situation and if you don't get a response that suits your need and trouble, I'm not sure where you live, but you should get a second opinion then. Wellbutrin is not for everyone, it was too much of a stimulant for me. Sounds like you perhaps need a more sedating thing like a couple of the SSRIs are or some other class of medication.

Thanks for you replies. Before I started I was sleeping fine. Now I'm sleeping ALL the time. I'll be home in about 4 weeks, but maybe I'll see if I can talk to my doctor before then or something.

What were you taking Wellbutrin for to begin with?
Wellbutrin was nothing but hell for me. After 25 years of being free of anxiety/panic and most of all hypochondria because of MAOI's, Wellbutrin brought it all back with a vengence. I know it works for many poeple but not me.Your side effects are a bit alarming. Wellbutrin is activating so your tiredness is not the norm (but of course ANYTHING is possible). Your not being hungry is normal for most (it was for me.) But to have your depression and panic get worse is just not right. IMHO, this is not the drug for you. Ok you know what I am going to say....why don't you try an MAOI like Nardil or Parnate? Just read the board and see the success stories.
Either way, be gentle with yourself during this time & let us know what happens and how you are doing. We care :-)

Well, maybe it's time to try something else. <shrug> I've known of a couple of people getting tired from Wellby.
I liked Wellbutrin, but it wasn't enough, so I'm moving off into Parnate-land.
