My doc has mentioned this since nothing else has worked. And keep in mind that i am doing a valium taper/WD (made me worse).
Any experiences trying this?
Seems like very conservative start, 100mgX 3 daily, 200 bed time. From what i've read, that is very small.
I did try it for 2 days while on 1.5 klonopin, and did knock the day lights outta me.
Now only on 10mgs of valium, it doesn't effect me as much.thanks for the help.

I believe that it helped my GAD some. Do you take any other meds, like an SSRI? I don't know if it works alone or only as an augmenting agent. I have only taken it in combo w/ other meds.
Generally, I think it is worth a try. Typically people find it to be pretty good in terms of side effects etc.
Best of luck,
EE

First, let me say everyone is certainly different. I was trying to slowly replace klonopin with lyrica (the new neurontin).
At one point after a month I was totally off klonopin. For me, I could hardly function. I was really out of it. It was all side effects sedatioin, couldn't think straight and all my anxiety returned, particularly social anxiety.
I have heard it has helped others, but not me. I hope you have better luck than me.....

Since im trying to wean off of valium (very difficult), i went to trileptal for stabilization, worked well for depression. Now to neurontin for anxeity. Hope it's a good combo and can cover up some of the insanity from benzo WD.
I was withdrawing at a good rate w/ trileptal, then just hit a wall, to where i couldn't think, speek, and was going insane w/ racing thoughts. Perhaps i was WDing too fast and it just caught up to me.
I wish i could try Lyrica, but im in china, not here yet.
Thanks for the info and suppport.
Regards,
Brian

> BrianI would definitely give it a try. I gave it a feeble attempt a few years back for GAD and social anxiety, but looking back I stopped it way too soon (2 weeks or so) and didn't give dose escalation a try (I think I was on 300mg tid). I unfortunately didn't have the patience at the time to allow the side effect to potentially resolve. It was very sedating for me and sort of made me generally "numb," but certainly could have worked had I stuck it out. I may give it (or Lyrica) another go if my parnate is a bust.
And I agree that the dosing regimen you mention is very conservative, but may be necessary to avoid being completely slammed by side effects. From what I've read, much higher doses (3600mg/day or higher) are often required to alleviate anxiety.
Let us know what you decide and how your treatment works. Good luck!

I take it every day and have for around 8 years or so. It was originally given to me to augment Marplan and it really did help. Now however I have no idea if or what it is doing :-)
